Community Investment Funds
Putting “Community” into Community Foundation

An important part of our work at the Community Foundation for Northern Virginia is to make grants to nonprofits working in Northern Virginia from unrestricted funds of the Foundation.

Our Community Investment Funds (CIF’s) are the source of this critical grant making. Grants from CIF’s are made by the Community Foundation’s Board of Directors to nonprofits providing critical services in areas of urgent concern. Our Community Investment Funds span six fields of interest.  In addition, for individuals who do not have a preference for a specific CIF fund, NVCF offers the option of  making a contibution to the General Fund.
