Mission: BIS helps people in Northern Virginia manage the challenges of living with a brain injury.  They provide case management services at no cost and offer additional services either at no cost or on a sliding scale, including cognitive rehabilitation, independent living skills training, respite care, specialized clubhouse programs and social skills training. At any given time, they are helping approximately 500 individuals in the region manage the challenges of living with a brain injury

Mission: CrisisLink has a mission of preventing tragedies and provides immediate support and resources for those facing challenges for which they are unable to find help elsewhere.  Their services include:  24 hour suicide and crisis hotline, community training programs, a crisis response team, teen outreach program and a depression screening program.  CrisisLink has answered more than 530,000 crisis calls, responded to over 16,000 potential suicides and provided 200,000 referals.  General support helps CrisisLink sustain these vital programs and services in Northern Virginia.

Mission: Provides health care to the uninsured in Herndon, Reston, Centreville and Chantilly through a network of dedicated medical and non-medical volunteer.  The Herndon Free Clinic opened to provide health care services to uninsured and low-income members of Fairfax County.  They have a network of dedicated medical and non-medical volunteers, the Herndon Free Clinic has administered over 1,300 physicals to children through bi-monthly clinics. In March 2005, they expanded their services to meet the needs of entire families in the community, including hypertension screening and follow-up clinics for adults.  Through bi-monthly adult clinics, volunteers administer medication, provide preventative education and make referrals to other community resources.

Mission:    Devoted to supporting children with kidney diseases and illnesses as well as their families. They strive to lessen the physical, emotional and financial impacts of living with a kidney disease or illness. There are no cures for many kidney diseases. While no baby, child or family should ever have to endure this, many do.  At a time when many medical researchers seek cures for these children’s conditions, Kidney Kids has a somewhat different mission – to provide help and hope to these children and their families until the search for a cure becomes a reality.

Mission: Vanguard Services Unlimited is a non-profit headquartered in Arlington, VA, whose purpose is to provide quality substance abuse treatment programs to adults, adolescents and mothers of their children, regardless of their economic status, who are suffering from the effects of substance abuse.  They currently offer 11 programs accredited by CARF, the national commission for the accreditation of residential facilities.  They offer a variety of substance abuse programs including residential, outpatient, transitional housing and prevention services throughout Washington, DC, Maryland and Virginia.
